How many slices in a large pizza?
A large 14-inch pizza is usually cut into 8 slices — Domino’s lists a hand-tossed large as 1/8 of a pizza per slice — and feeds about 2 to 3 adults, or 4 with other food.
How to work it out
- 2 adults × 3 large slices = 6 slices of a 14 in pizza (19.2 sq in each)
- = 115 sq in ÷ 154 sq in per 14 in pizza = 1 pizza (8 slices)
“Large” is not a standard size, but at most national chains it means 14 inches, cut into eight. The slice count is a cutting choice, though, so the useful number is how much pizza that is and how many people it feeds.

Slices by pizza size
| Size | Usual slices | Area | Feeds (adults, 3 large slices each) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 in small | 6 (varies) | 79 sq in | about 1½ |
| 12 in medium | 8 | 113 sq in | about 2 |
| 14 in large | 8 | 154 sq in | 2 to 3 |
| 16 in extra large | 8 | 201 sq in | about 3½ |
| New York style large | 6 big slices | varies | about 2 to 3 |
Because the medium, large and extra large are all cut into eight, the slices grow with the pizza. A slice of a 16 in pizza is about 30% bigger than a slice of a 14 in, and a slice of a 12 in about 27% smaller. That is why counting slices alone can leave you short when you switch sizes; counting pizza area does not.
How many people a large pizza feeds
- Pizza is dinner, adults: about 2½ people at three slices each.
- With wings, salad or snacks: four people at two slices each.
- Young children: five or six at one or two small slices each — ask for a party cut into squares.
- Teenagers: two, at four slices each.
For a whole party, run the full count: how many pizzas for 20 people and how many pizzas for 30 people show the area comparison for bigger orders.
