How many people fit at a 60 inch round table?
A 60 inch (5 ft) round table seats 8 people comfortably — Lifetime’s figure — and up to 10 at a squeeze, the top of rental companies’ range.
How to work it out
- 8 guests ÷ 8 per 60 in round (comfortable) = 1 table
- Chairs: 8 + 0% spare = 8 chairs · Floor: 1 table × about 79 sq ft each = 79 sq ft
The 60 in round is the standard rental table for weddings and banquets. Its seating is quoted as eight, ten, or “eight to ten”, and the difference matters when you are counting tables for a hundred guests.

Eight or ten?
A 60 in table has a circumference of about 188 in. Eight chairs give each guest about 23½ in of table edge; ten give about 19 in. That is the whole difference: at eight, guests have room for a dinner plate, bread plate, glasses and elbows; at ten, plates nearly touch. Lifetime, the table maker, says eight. Bright Event Rentals gives 8 to 10.
| Round table | Comfortable | Maximum | Floor space (Bright) |

When to seat ten
- Buffet or family-style meals, where guests do not need a full place setting.
- Kids’ tables — children take less room.
- Short events like a dessert reception.
- Not for a plated dinner with chargers, multiple glasses and a centerpiece — keep to eight.
